My Mind Map -- Technology Integration in Education

  1. I noticed you said that technology is important but it should not take the place of teachers or peers. This seems to be a phobia in the teaching world that i hear a lot about. I guess the concern is technology may take the place of a teacher. I know that robots have taken the place of say autoworkers, but is it a bad thing if technology takes the place of teachers? I feel if the kids are learning and still getting social skills to interact with others, it may be an incentive to remove teachers from the classrooms eventually. However, i am sure most people especially in the MAT program will disagree. I think that sometimes computers will and are the key to future advances instead of old and mostly outdated practices in teaching.

  2. Ken, I see your point.. but disagree. I think that teachers are essential to building the community we are always talking about in class. Robot teachers can't respond the way that a flesh and blood teacher can.
Elisabeth, I really like that you are open to learning more technology even though you feel relatively uncomfortable by it! I think that is where most teachers are finding the big roadblocks, especially in this district.
